(Akiit.com) A lot of people have fond memories of their school sporting days. Scoring that crucial winning goal or touchdown. The spirit of camaraderie with your teammates. Making staying in shape fun. But you don’t have to let all of this be confined to your memories. Instead, you could establish your own sports team in your local community. A well-run team has a host of benefits including strengthening your neighbourhood, re-instilling a sense of pride, and even giving people a sense of direction. Of course, it is going to take some hard work and dedication to make a success of things. So, here are a few top tips to help steer you onto the right path.
Do Your Research
To start off with, you need to choose the sport that you enjoy playing. But alongside this, you also need to consider whether or not there is already a league established in the local area which you can sign up to. Not only this, you need to ensure that you have enough members of the local community who are interested in joining. You could test the waters by setting up a group online to gauge what level of interest you are receiving.
Think About the Resources You Need
Next up, you need to consider what sort of resources and facilities that you are going to need for your sports club. Are there any public fields or courts nearby which you can use for training and matches? How are you going to fund the purchase of uniforms, equipment etc? Do you need to jump through any other hoops to enter your team in the league? These are are questions which are worth answering before you go too far along.
Establish a Budget
Sorting out the financial side of things is an important aspect of establishing your sports team. You may be able to generate funds through sponsorship or fundraising, but you need to establish a clear budget as well. There are many different financial aspects to consider including whether there is a reservation fee for the field or court, the cost of uniforms with a custom t shirt design, any equipment that you need to buy etc. If you don’t have a huge budget to work with, you need to make sure that you always shop around to get the best deal.
Plan the Logistics
Since this is a big organisational task which you are planning on undertaking, you may not be able to handle everything all by yourself. For example, someone is going to need to hold tryouts and coaching sessions; someone will need to liaise with the league and the players; someone else will need to handle the financial side of things. Over time, you should start to develop a sense of rhythm and it will start to get easier and smoother in the planning and organisation.
Do you think that you have what it takes to start your own sports club?
