(Akiit.com) As anyone will attest, there is no one big trick to saving money, it is all about getting into the right frame of mind and look at it like you’re playing a long game. While there are many savers bank accounts and deferred payment options on most items, it still won’t get you the results you need. But let’s look at the common ways where we easily end up overspending or things that are actually pointless additions to our expenditure.
Extended Warranties
A very difficult subject to broach, especially if you don’t really care for the items you purchase. If you are clumsy and need to buy an extended warranty then sure, it is probably essential, but think about it. Do you really need it? If you buy extended warranties on every electrical item for your home, it is pointless, especially if there are items that you will replace in a few months. But for those items you use every day, like your TV or microwave, it would be essential. But think about the long-term effects on your bank account before going for the next extended warranty.
Paying For Delivery
There are so many online stores that charge for delivery, but there are also so many that don’t! If you shop online frequently, take the time to add up how much your total outgoings goes on delivery charges! You may be very surprised!
Loans
While we all hit a point where we may look at loans as a way to bail us out of debt, we don’t necessarily look at the small print but merely see the fact that it is a short-term solution. However, these short-term solutions have long-term problems. Look at the situation you are in, do you rent? Or are you looking to buy a home in the near future? If you have big plans, you might want to hold back on getting a loan that can saddle you with more long-term debt. Looking for cheap ways to fix my credit so I can buy a house, I was able to find various methods that worked. One such method was to stop creating new debt, which can take many forms, including loans.
Utility Bills
Most people look at the utility bill as something that cannot be changed. But if you shop around and find suppliers that can help you save money on your electricity bill over the course of the year, the money that you end up saving you can put aside. Even if you save money on utility bills, it is something that you normally don’t end up seeing because it’s just a bit of money saved every month, which may be a very small amount. However, if you have a bank account that is specifically used for bills and set up a standing order for money to go from your personal account to the designated bill-payment one, it is something you don’t have to think about! And you may be pleasantly surprised when there is more money in that account than you realize.
